The firm was founded in 1985 by Paul Kingham and Nicholas Liu, who both met at Grant Thornton and operated from premises on Berry Street in Liverpool. The firm grew rapidly, building a large client base, and further expanded in 1997 when it acquired Martindale & Co, a well-established practice in St Helens. This is now the St Helens branch of the firm, and operates as 'Martindale Kingham'.
In 2001, the firm acquired Brown and Lonsdale in Leyland, which continues to operate under the same name, and is now the Leyland branch of the group. In 2008, the firm merged with Denisons, a single-partner firm, in Birkenhead. Martin Denison has remained with the firm, and now acts as tax partner for the whole group.
The Kingham Group is a two-partner firm, with offices in the centre of Liverpool, St Helens, Leyland and Birkenhead. We act for clients across the whole of the North West, and have experience in all industries. Despite our recent growth, we believe strongly in providing a personal service, and endeavour to make sure that a client can always contact a partner. We do not 'charge by the hour' like many other accountants; we prefer to agree a fee for an engagement in advance, so that clients do not get a nasty surprise, and so that they can plan accordingly.
To date, the firm is continuing to grow and improve its services, and can now draw on the skills and knowledge of over 40 staff to provide up-to-date and top-quality technical and commercial advice. The firm is proud to be a registered ICAEW training office, and invests significant time and money in training its staff, so that we can provide the best-possible service to our clients.
